Which areas do you cover?
Wedding makeup Yorkshire – I cover Leeds, York, Tadcaster, Selby, Wetherby, Harrogate, Dishforth, Ripon, Pontefract, Wakefield and nearby areas.
Wedding makeup Cumbria – Please note that I’m now based in Leeds so my Cumbria availability is very limited. I do still travel home occasionally so I will consider bookings in West Cumbria (including Workington, Cockermouth, Whitehaven, Maryport and nearby areas).
Where do makeup trials take place?
Wedding makeup Yorkshire – Mobile Appointments.
Wedding makeup Cumbria – My studio in Workington.
Do I need a wedding makeup trial?
Bridal trials are a requirement. There are special circumstances where it’s not always possible and I’ll accept your booking regardless. In which case, I will ask you to sign a disclaimer.
It is not essential for members of the wedding party to have a trial.
When do makeup trials take place?
I recommend having your bridal trial 2-4 months before the wedding day. This allows enough time to make tweaks to your skincare routine and/or make changes to your makeup if we need to test another foundation etc. By this point it’s likely you’ve picked your dress, colours and flowers so you’ll have a better idea of the overall vision for your wedding.
Typically, trials take place on weekdays. (School holiday appointments are available if you work in education.)
How many people’s makeup can you do on the wedding morning?
This depends on what time you need to be ready and the chosen style of makeup (winged liner, false lashes, sculpting and bold lips all add on extra time).
I have a lot of experience in scheduling wedding mornings and can work quickly, but sometimes I just can’t manage a large bridal party in the available time. It’s very important to be realistic in what can and can’t be achieved to avoid a stressful morning or a late bride! In this case I may be able to recommended another makeup artist to split the work. For this reason, I ask if you can check in with me before adding additional bridesmaids and guests for makeup. Of course, I will always try my best to source a second artist but it’s not always possible, especially at short notice.
For intimate weddings, I have a Bijou Makeup Package for bride only or bride + 1.
How far in advance can I book?
For weddings you can officially book up to 18 months in advance. I’m happy for you to enquire up to two years in advance, but I won’t take a deposit immediately.
How much will my wedding makeup cost?
I’m very transparent about my pricing. You can find all the information on my Price List page. Please note, there is a minimum booking requirement.
Are there any additional charges?
A travel fee may apply. Please let me know the postcode of the ‘getting ready’ location so I can provide and accurate quote.
Yorkshire wedding makeup – The travel fee will be calculated from my home address in East Leeds.
Cumbria wedding makeup – The travel fee for your wedding day will be calculated from my base in Workington. As I live in Leeds, I travel to Cumbria the night before and stay with family. Therefore a standard £30.00 for my fuel costs is required, in addition to the travel fee for your wedding morning.
A note on hotels:
Sometimes it is necessary to stay in a hotel nearby to your location the night before. This is only the case if it is an especially early start and I have a long distance to travel. This would be discussed during the enquiry stage.
Which makeup brands do you use?
In my kit you’ll find a wide range of luxury brands (although I do have a few budget gems that I love). My favourites are Charlotte Tilbury, NARS, Hourglass, Beauty Pie, Natasha Denona, MAC, Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown (just to name a few).
I am proud to say that I’m an affiliate for Look Fantastic, which means I’m able to offer a 20% discount code*. Lots of my favourite brands can be purchased there. The code is LFTFREBECCAJ.
*As an affiliate I make a small commission when my code or link is used to shop at Look Fantastic.
Can you include my own makeup for my bridal look?
My answer to this is usually yes! If you have a product you love of course I’ll do my best to incorporate it. This can be especially useful if you have very sensitive skin or allergies and you would prefer to stick to products you’ve tested. I’m a big believer in feeling comfortable so if you’re confident with your own products, that’s fine by me.
Occasionally there will be times when I advise you try something from my kit. A good example is Double Wear foundation on brides – not a good choice because of the flash back when photographed. Also if a product is old, difficult to work with or doesn’t mix well with my other makeup I would try to find a suitable alternative in my kit.
I don’t usually wear a lot of makeup, will I need to wear more on my wedding day?
Don’t panic! I love doing all styles of makeup. We can work together, step by step, and come up with a light, minimal look that enhances your features. For example, we can use a tinted moisturiser or just skip the foundation altogether. My goal is to provide a relaxing, comfortable service and help you to feel fabulous.
There’s on old fashioned misconception that you need to wear heavier makeup for the photographs or so it lasts well. That’s simply not true! In fact, heavier makeup is more likely to show wear and tear and require more maintenance. With regards to being photographed, I will use makeup to add dimension and definition but it won’t look heavy.
Do you offer makeup lessons?
Yes I do! I offer 1-2-1 and small group makeup lessons. I love sharing my extensive knowledge of makeup and skincare.
The lessons are tailored to your requirements, enjoyable and interactive. There’s something for everyone, from the absolute beginner, to aspiring MUA’s (non accredited).
There’s absolutely no pressure. You can get involved with the brushes or simply relax and watch a demonstration. Some of my groups have even brought a bottle of bubbly and snacks to make it an extra special treat!
If you’re a nearly wed and you would like a lesson specifically about wedding makeup please enquire to learn more about my bridal makeup lessons. I offer lessons for brides who are getting married abroad or just want to do their own makeup, brides who want to know top tips for keeping their makeup fresh all day, and brides who want to learn how to recreate their bridal look.
Do you offer hairstyling?
I don’t offer hairstyling services. Makeup is my thing! I work with lots of wonderful hairstylists so I’m always happy to make recommendations.
How do I book?
Please send all enquiries to my email address, which is contact@rebeccajonesmakeup.com. Please include as much information as possible to help speed up the enquiry process. I need to know the date, numbers for makeup, getting ready location, ceremony location (if different) and times. It’s also good to know if you’ve looked though my portfolio so I know we have the same vibe with regards to makeup style.
Wedding makeup Yorkshire – Please also include which area you live in as I would be travelling to you for your trial.
Wedding makeup Cumbria – Please note that trials are held in Workington.
If I’m available on your date I’ll ask you to send a £100.00 booking/date reservation fee, which secures your wedding day and covers the cost of your trial. The balance must be paid at least a two weeks before your wedding day.
